Product Description Sister Souljah, the hip-hop generation's number one author and most compelling storyteller, delivers a powerful story about love and loyalty, strength and family. In her bestselling novel, The Coldest Winter Ever, Sister Souljah introduced the world to Midnight, a brave but humble lieutenant to a prominent underworld businessman. Now, in a highly anticipated follow-up to her million-selling masterpiece, she brings readers into the life and dangerously close to the heart of this silent, fearless young man.Raised in a wealthy, influential, Islamic African family, Midnight enjoys a life of comfort, confidence, and protection. Midnight's father provides him with a veil of privilege and deep, devoted love, but he never hides the truth about the fierce challenges of the world outside of his estate. So when Midnight's father's empire is attacked, he sends Midnight with his mother to the United States. In the streets of Brooklyn, a young Midnight uses his Islamic mind-set and African intelligence to protect the ones he loves, build a business, reclaim his wealth and status, and remain true to his beliefs. Midnight, a handsome and passionate young man, attracts many women. How he interacts and deals with them is a unique adventure. This is a highly sensual and tremendous love story about what a man is willing to risk and give to the women he loves most. Midnight will remain in your mind and beat in your heart for a lifetime. Her "raw and true voice" (Publishers Weekly) will both soothe and arouse you. In a beautifully written and masterfully woven story, Sister Souljah has given us Midnight, and solidified her presence as the mother of all contemporary urban literature.

UNHAPPY CAMPER November 21, 2008 I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS BOOK WAS NOT A SEQUEL 2 THE COLDEST WINTER EVER. bUT, STILL IN ALL THIS BOOK WAS NOTHING LIKE THE MATERIAL I EXPECTED IT 2 B. I SURELY WASTED MY TIME IT TOOK 2 READ THIS BOOK AND 2 TOP IT OFF IT LEFT YOU HANGING IN THE END. SHE SURE DID FALL OFF WITH THIS BOOK. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
BORING November 21, 2008 The book is BORING. I usually complete books in 2 to 3 days. Sister Souljah could of did better into writing a 500 page book that goes into loops. Im not complete with the book and I want my 17.00 dollars back and plus shipping that was 17.00. I understand the message that she may be trying to give if you was a teenager boy/girl but for adults it has nothing to do with us. Please purchase a use book I know we are all having financial problems and I'm going to keep it real I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
A GREAT READ! November 20, 2008 Ok, I personally LOVED this book. As you know by now this particular book is NOT the sequel to Coldest Winter Ever, BUT I think the sequel to "Midnight" WILL introduce Santiaga and Winter. If anyone remembers in "Coldest Winter" Midnight started working for them when he was 14 but he was introduced in "Coldest Winter" at age 18 (I think?). So IF Sista Soulja does a sequel to "Midnight" I'm pretty sure Winter and her family will be in it! Also, am I the only one that thought the owner of that Porshe Midnight was eyeing was Santiaga? Remember he said the owner had the gold baby shoes around his neck, was lightskin, had on a Rolex watch, and diamond cuff links? Yea, I'm sure THAT was Santiaga, but they just hadnt been introduced yet. So like I said, IF she comes out with a sequel to "Midnight" all your favorite characters from "Coldest Winter" will be re-introduced. I think all men should strive to have traits like Midnight and the women should strive to have traits like Umma. I thought it was a great book, eye-opener!
The good, the bad, the ugly November 19, 2008 The Good-The story was good and Souljah paid close attention to most details (except two MAJOR ones).
The Bad-The ending is HORRIBLE! She has you thinking the story line is moving closer toward Midnight meeting Winter's dad and then it makes a SHARP turn and you end up lost at the end. (Hope that's not considered a spoiler).
The Ugly-This book is SO fictitious. It is HIGHLY unlikely. It's hard to go into much detail without spoiling, but other critics have nailed it especially noticing that he never asked for forgiveness for the lives he took.
I hate to rate this one a 3 because it had VERY low points and VERY high points. It is not worth [...] bucks so buy a used one, there will be plenty for sale. It is not a keeper.
Better than I Expected November 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Okay so before I brought this book I cheated a bit to find out if this would be the sequel as everyone else had, amazingly I still brought it! Midnight has such great respect for his religion, culture and the women in his life which made me smile al throughout as I read. It was nice to have insight as to what other cultures experience here in the America's unbiasedly. You have to read it or borrow it, its a must!
