British Literature, Compacted September 29, 2008 This book takes the greatest British Literature of all time, and packs it into a single volume. It's easy to read, easy to follow, and is sure to delight anyone studying anything about British Literature.
Good read. Best quality. Cheapest price. September 21, 2008 A definite buy. A hardcover, brand-new book more than ten dollars cheaper than the college bookstore.
We have not gotten beyond the Anglo-Saxon period yet. However, it seems to be a very good anthology so far. Kudos to the professors who selected this book for the British Literature class.
John Keats is well covered, and so are many others. I found Sir Arthur Conan Doyle conspicuously missing, and I am not sure about why.
A Balanced Compilation of Literature May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you really love English literature or you just like reading, this book is great for just that purpose and much more. It is enthralling and provides a tidbit of history in order for the reader to understand different themes in a literary and historical context. It may also encourage you to do further research on any given topic. If you are an English teacher, this would be a good book to use. You will not be disappointed.
Wonderful Anthology January 20, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used this anthology for my Intro to Brit lit class. A great option as it begins with "Dream of the Rood" which is pre-Norman Conquest and continues to more modern times.
