 sista soulja book 'midnight' is boring! December 3, 2008
I was so excited when I heard there would be a sequel to the coldest winter ever. I was going to go out and buy that book again so I could remember the characters . And be prepared to read midnight.
Instead when I got to borders I seen the whole set up especially for sista soulja book, midnight. And I wanted to get right into reading it.
I bought the book about five days ago, and usually I would be almost done reading a book. I am about 100 pages in and its soo boring. It seems to unrealistic about how midnight was the sole provider, and picked up his mom from work every night, he traveled all over ny and outside of ny to pick up cash and drop off garments, and this was at the age of 14. So far that's all I've read..
I give this book two thumbs down and I would like to recruit some of my friends so I can use their thumbs and give it more thumbs down!
so does this mean that sista soulja will come out with a book solely baed on one character every year. If so please save us the trouble and don't.

This was a great book although i was expecting a sequel it is definitely a prequel. I love the views and I think everyone should give this book a read because it opens eyes to the way most young black americans do things. It offers insight on another more positive lifestyle that some of us might want to take a look at (without changing religions of course). The story did get slow at times but overall its a great read and I'd recommend it to everyone. It does mention Santiago a couple times but not by name. If you pay attention to the little details of Vega's boss that's where you will find Santiago.

I was very disspointed that this was not a continuation from the "Coldest Winter Ever." I had the impression that it would start from where it ended. To my surprise this is totally different from her last novel. I couldnt' stay focused to continue reading. So, if someone can please enlighten me, that would be appreciated..Please tell me that it gets better...
Disappointed December 3, 2008
I have to say I was really excited when I first heard Souljah was finally coming out with something new. In my option, she is the mother of the urban literature phenomenon. But, when I finally read the book, I found it to be highly disappointing. The book is helmed as the "follow-up" to her urban masterpiece, The Coldest Winter Ever. However, this is not that at all. The book actually is written as the prelude to Midnight. Documenting his families beginning in this country and how he came to be Midnight. I say all this to say that this was not what Is to be expected and I am very disappointed.

Very interesting read. I love reading books with different plots and the "typical" love story. I just hope I don't have to wait years to learn how the story ends...T. Horton
