What a pleassure January 6, 2009 I had no problem downloading additional quesions and there were so many categories to choose from. I enjoyed being about to download some that fit the interests for both me and my daughter. My daughter has wanted to play it everyday since Christmas.
Downloading topics you enjoy = fun!! January 5, 2009 I love playing trivia games, but the girlfriend isn't so hot on them...until now! With the ability to download our own set of questions (including topics like "90's fads" and "Crime TV shows"), it really makes the game enjoyable for everyone, even those who didn't enjoy the standard Trivial Pursuit categories.
It was easy to sync up the unit and we were off and running in no time. The only quasi-downer is that TP only gives you a limited amount of "free" (or more accurately, "pre-purchased credits") to be able to "buy" questions from the site. Now, they still give you a ton, I doubt we will ever get through them all...but it would be nice if this was a free service instead of a pay service if we ever wanted to get another couple hundred questions.
All in all, I'd say this is one of our favorite games to play and at $15, it's an off-the-charts bargain.
Bad initial questions, can't figure out how to load new ones! January 3, 2009 The questions that come loaded on the handheld are pretty difficult and 2 of the 6 categories are sports. Yuck! Trying to load new questions has been a nightmare. I downloaded the desktop app and plugged in my handheld. It then tells me my handheld is already registered but my desktop isn't. So it wants me to enter a username and password??? I have never registered this product so I don't have a username or password. There is no link or other way I have found to register. If I close the window it takes me to the main window of the application but I cannot figure out how to add questions. There is no "shopping cart" or "load" buttons or anything like that. So I'm stuck with the six original categories and Hasbro customer service seems to be of no help.
Don't buy this game. Hasbro has taken something that should be simple (adding questions to the device) and made it insanely complicated with registrations and passwords and desktop applications.
great idea problem execusion January 3, 2009 My husband and I asked for and received this game for Christmas. the preloaded questions are ok but a little hard. we were able to successfully download more questions from the website and so far (fingers crossed) the desktop application has worked ok. My problem is 2 fold, 1st I obviously didn't pay enough attention to the directions or it wasn't clear that you have to choose mini categories for each of the broad categories...I thought I could arrange the uncategorized as I chose but that is not so...oops now I have no questions in sports and leisure or wild....o-well. 2nd, I also thought that with my 1800 I would be able to dump some to get more from the web site...this is not so, you get 1800 total you can add and remove those 1800 from the hand held to the desktop but the original 1800 you downloaded are the questions you are stuck with. lastly the web site in the help section says you can purchase more questions (for silly people like me who messed it up the first time) BUT when you go to the hasbro website as they suggest there is no way to get them in the section it sends you to or anywhere else on the website. The last is my biggest annoyance at the moment, if I can purchase those questions eventually all will be fixed. I hope for those considering this game this review was helpful and most of all make sure that you choose mini categories for each broad category!
Don't waste your time or money December 31, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was unable to download any questions from the Trivial Pursuit website. Hasbro customer service was unable to help. "Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding the Trival Pursiut Digital Choice game questions. We are sorry to advise that the information you have requested is not readily available. We are sharing your question with those internal parties who are more familiar with this piece of our business. We will respond to you, as soon as we receive the information from them. We thank you, in advance, for your patience." Two weeks later, still with no help from Hasbro, I returned the game to Amazon. What a waste of my time! I really love Trivial Pursuit, but not this one!
