Sublime.

Need more words? I own 80+ traditional CDs and 95% are
by woman singers. I've been buying for 10 years. Time is my
limiting factor. Ru-ra is one of the most clearly "created"
works of art I have ever encountered, in any medium. That
is a compliment. There is a mind, minds, behind this, but
given the few dots to connect, *the* mind is that of Sandra
MacKay. I would happily spend what money I have if it could
*produce* a new album by her.

But understand: Ru-ra was a master-work. A masterpiece of
Scots Gaelic traditional music. If that sounds a bit idolatrous,
I may say I recently stumbled upon Margaret Callan's
"Reflections of Uist", which, along with very few CDs, say
Mary Jane Lamond's "Bho Thir Nan Croabh" ... Catherine
Anne-MacPhee's "Sings Mairi Mhor" ... I group with "Ru-ra."

Yes, Padraigin Ni Uallachain and Kate Rusby and Julie
Murphy have made comparable CDs. "When I was Young", "Kate
and Kathryn", "Llatai". And I am very glad, very glad indeed,
to own other CDs Sandra has made.

But "Ru-ra" ... as George MacDonald wrote, "Is it over then,
and yet I still live?"

Cheer be with thee.

Wow. This album blew me away. I fell for one of the tracts from this album on "Celtic Voices", a mix CD, I got the album and have been wondering ever since how I'd gotten along without it. I love celtic music. But this album really shines among my collection.
