Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Record, but Boil the Breakfast Early is better   July 28, 2008
This album just doesn't have quite the same snap and verve as Boil the Breakfast Early. If you have to chose, try that one instead. Having said that, this is still a fantastic album with great performances and arrangements. The early Chieftans never fail to dazzle with the overall quality of their musicianship. Too many other performers of Irish music are interested in slogging through a parade of standards rather than bringing something new to the game.

5 out of 5 stars Correct Listing   January 11, 2008
This was my first celtic album, I bought it when I was 16 years old (I'm now 39). The track listings posted correspond with the vinyl version that I own. The music is very well played and touching.

4 out of 5 stars The track list is correct for Chieftains 7   October 11, 2007
The previous reviewer asserts that the track list he sees is incorrect. Perhaps the listing has been updated, for at the time of this writing the track list I see is correct for Chieftains 7. If one has any doubt about this I suggest checking the discography in the Wikipedia, for instance, or the Chieftains own site at chieftains-dot-com or The Chieftains 1 on this site. Let this remind us all to check our facts before posting them online.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the early numbered albums are the most satisfying of the Chieftains' output for the lover of Irish Trad; the first three, in my opinion, being the best of the lot. There can be found on this site the Chieftains' collection From the Beginning: The Chieftains 1 to 4 which, taken together, would have to count as the very best ever of their albums.

5 out of 5 stars Great album, wrong number and cover.   September 25, 2003

If the listed contents are the tunes in the above album, this is the Chieftains first album simply called "the Chieftains."
The early numbered albums are by far the best, 1 through 10.
